    UP PCS J 2018 NOTIFICATION RELEASED; APPLY ONLINE FROM 11 SEPTEMBER:

    UTTAR PRADESH PUBLIC SEVICE COMMISSION(UPPSC):

    ☛ UP Judicial Service Civil Judge(Junior Division) examination 2018 notification has been released. Candidates interested and eligible for the post may apply online from September 11, 2018 at uppsc.up.nic.in. in-depth details of online application system, mode of fees, subject, syllabus of UP PCS J 2018 preliminary and written examination will also be available from same date.

    ☛ For the post of Civil Judge, there are 610 vacancies. Abridged advertisement says that this is tentative and may increase or decrease.

    ☛ In order to be eligible for this recruitment, candidates must have a Bachelor of Laws from a recognized university. They should also be enrolled as an Advocate as per provisions of Advocate Act 1961. They can also be a Barrister of England or Northern Ireland, or a member faculty of Advocates in Scotland. Candidates should also have complete knowledge of Hindi in Devnagri script.

    ☛ There is a limitation on what should be one’s age for this recruitment. Age limit is defined for both minimum as well as maximum age. Minimum age should be 22 years, and maximum age is 35 years. Age will be calculated as on July 1, 2019. Therefore candidate born earlier than July 2, 1984, and later than July 1, 1997 is not eligible. However, there will be age relaxation for candidates who belong to reserved category.

    ☛ Online application form will be available at uppsc.up.nic.in from September 11, 2018. Thereafter the last date to pay fee is October 8, 2018. However last date to submit online form is October 11, 2018. Preliminary examination will start on December 16, 2018.

    PCS stands for Provincial Civil Service. It is an Group A and Group B administrative Civil Service that comes under state service (UPPSC) of Government of Uttar Pradesh’s executive branch.

    NEET PG 2019, MDS 2019:

    ☛ The examination dates of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) PG and MDS examinations have been announced. The National Board of Examination (NBE) has released the examination schedule for the MCQ based examination, the MDS examination will be conducted on December 14, 2018, and the PG 2019 examination will be held on January 6, 2019. The board is scheduled to conduct the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination FMGE 2019, and DNB Post Diploma CET (DNB-PDCET) 2019 on December 14.

    ☛ NEET-PG 2019 and NEET-MDS 2019 will be held on a single day in a single session. The MCQ based examination will be conducted in computer-based mode. The application process is likely to begin in October, and the candidates have to apply online.

    SC NOTICE TO CBSE ON CONTEMPT PLEA ALLEGING VIOLATION OF ORDER OF FEES:

    NEW DELHI:

    ☛ The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to the CBSE on a plea seeking contempt action against the board for allegedly "disobeying" the top court's order and charging exorbitant fees of up to Rs. 1,200 from students for obtaining copies of evaluated answer-sheets.

    ☛ A bench of Justices Ranjan Gogoi, Navin Sinha and K M Joseph asked the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to respond to the plea within six weeks.

    ☛ The contempt plea has alleged that the CBSE has wilfully and deliberately disobeyed the directions of the apex court, which had in 2016 said that the board should 'scrupulously' follow its 2011 verdict holding that the students have the fundamental and legal right to access their evaluated answer-sheets under the Right to Information Act.

    ☛ It has claimed that despite the apex court's direction, the CBSE had published a notification prescribing fee of Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 1,200 for students of Class 10th and 12th respectively to obtain the evaluated answer-sheets.

    ☛ The petition has claimed that as per the court's direction, the fee prescribed under the 2012 RTI Rules should be charged from the students for obtaining the answer-sheets.

    ☛ It sought setting aside of the CBSE notification prescribing fee of Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 1,200 for the students for obtaining copies of the evaluated answer-sheets.

    ☛ The plea has also sought a direction to the CBSE to provide copies of evaluated answer-sheets to the examinee's only as per provisions of the RTI Act, 2005 and at the fees prescribed under 2012 Rules.

    IBPS CLERK RECRUITMENT 2018:

    IBPS Clerk Recruitment 2018: The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) through its notification has sought applications for the clerk exam 2018, organised through the Common Recruitment Process (CWE Clerk VIII). Interested candidates should check details on the IBPS's official website –ibps.in, as the application process is commencing from September 18, and will end on October 10.

    ☛ The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection is holding this examination for 7,275 posts of bank clerks.     IMPORTANT DATES FOR IBPS CLERK RECRUITMENT:

    ☛Candidates will be able to download pre-exam training call letter in the month of November, as pre-exam training will take place from November 26 to December 1, 2018.

    ELIGIBILITY FOR IBPS CLERK 2018:

    ☛ Candidates should be an Indian national, having all the requisite qualification as per the IBPS notification.

    Educational qualification: Applicants must be graduate in any discipline from a recognised university or have any equivalent qualification recognised by the Central government.

    ☛ They should also have the working knowledge of computer systems, and must have passed in English as one of the subjects at SSC/ HSC/ Intermediate/ Graduation level.

    AGE LIMIT:

    Students of 14 courses will be allowed to re-appear for the examination, scheduled to be held September 22. The university administration will later release a list of candidates eligible to appear for the exam.

    ☛ University public relation officer GS Sharma said, “Considering the genuine problem of students who were unable to appear in the exam on April 2, university vice-chancellor Arvind Kumar Dixit has ordered to conduct a special exam on September 22. A total 14 exams were held on April 2. A list of students eligible to appear in the exam will be released soon.”

    ☛ Recently, the university administration had declared to conduct re-examination for the 2017-18 batch students on October 3 and 4. Around 22,000 students would be taking the examination.

    ☛ Meanwhile, the university administration has not taken any decision in cases related to use of unfair means in exam. Flying squads during the main exams had reported that cheating took place in more than 200 colleges.

    ☛ Due to this, the results of thousands of students of these colleges were put on hold.

    ☛ According to university officials, a committee will soon shortlist students who would be given chance to re-appear in exam, on the basis of assessment of evidences in the report filed by flying squads.

    SRINAGAR:

    Forty new degree colleges will be opened across the state in a phased manner, the Jammu and Kashmir State Administrative Council (SAC) said Wednesday.

    ☛ The decision to open the new colleges was taken at a meeting of the SAC chaired by Governor Satya Pal Malik. The new colleges would include the 26 degree colleges already sanctioned, an official spokesperson said.

    ☛ Acknowledging the need for more colleges to provide access to hitherto deprived sections of the society, the SAC has decided to constitute a committee to finalise the phasing of the sanctioned colleges, he said.

    ☛ The committee will examine the feasibility of likely locations, keeping in view the prescribed norms, besides factors like enrolment, student-teacher ratio, faculty deployment, geographical conditions and financial requirement, the official said.

    ☛ Based on the recommendations of the committee, the Higher Education Department will seek approval for operationalisation of the sanctioned and the new colleges, he added.

    ☛ The SAC also endorsed the proposal of opening a degree college in Drass and two administrative staff colleges in Srinagar and Jammu, the spokesperson said.

    ☛ The increase in colleges is essential so that more and more youth get the benefit of college education and the gross enrolment rises from the current 26 per cent, the spokesman added.

    MEDICAL ADMISSION FOR 1000 GOVT SCHOOL STUDENTS TARGETED:

    DEPARTMENT OF SCHOOL EDUCATION TO FINE-TUNE NEET COACHING:

    Thirunalveli:The Department of School Education, by fine-tuning the coaching for NEET, has set a target of ensuring admission for a minimum of 1,000 government school students in the government medical colleges across Tamil Nadu, Minister for School Education K.A. Sengottaiyan has said.

    ☛ During an informal chat with reporters at the Collectorate here on Friday after flagging off the relief materials, worth about ? 1.46 crore, to flood-ravaged Kerala on behalf of the schools in the southern districts, Mr. Sengottaiyan said the State Government, which always wanted the scrapping of NEET, had trained 3,200 teachers for preparing the NEET aspirants in 412 centres across Tamil Nadu.

    ☛ Besides coaching the students on weekends for three hours a day, arrangements had been made to conduct coaching classes in designated coaching centres every day for 60 minutes.

    ☛ After 72,000 students from Tamil Nadu appeared for NEET in 2016, over 1.13 lakh students took the test last year. Hence, the government had ensured infrastructure required for the smooth conduct of NEET in over 1,000 schools across the State as it was expected that over two lakh students would appear for the test this year.

    ☛ “Though 1,472 government school students had cleared the NEET this year, only 24 of them could get admission to the government medical colleges,” said Mr. Sengottaiyan, who formally inaugurated the NEET coaching centre at Avvaiyar Government Higher Secondary School at Paavoorchathram in the evening.

    ☛ He assured that the complaints of sexual harassment of women teachers would be dealt with seriously within 24 hours if they registered complaints by calling 14417.

    ☛ The Minister said the Department of School Education had so far sent ? 4.06 crore-worth relief materials to Kerala as the first consignment, worth about ? 2.60 crore, were transported to the neighbouring State from Erode recently.

    ☛ He also participated in a function organised at Thulukkarpatti in Radhapuram taluk to mark the upgradation of the government high school into higher secondary school.Collector Shilpa Prabhakar Satish, Minister for Adi Dravida Welfare V.M.     GATE 2019: APPLICATION FEES:

    ☛ The general category candidates have to submit an application fee of Rs 1,500 while women and other reserve category candidates have to submit an application fee of Rs 750. The candidates of foreign nationals have to submit an application fee of $50, Unreserved: Rs 1,500 , Women: Rs 750, SC/ST/PwD: Rs 750, International: $ 50.

    GATE 2019: ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

    ☛ There is no age limit for GATE 2018. Candidates should be graduating BE, BTech, BPharmacy, BArch, BSc (Research), BS, MA, MSc, MCA, Int MSc or Int BSMS in 2018. If not the above then they should have be completing their Int ME, MTech (post BSc) or a dual degree after 10+2 by 2019-20.

    GATE 2019: PAPER PATTERN:

    ☛ The duration of all the papers of the GATE 2019 will be three hours. There will be 65 questions for a total of 100 marks. As the examination is an online computer based test, after the time is over, the computer will automatically close the screen. The exam consists of two sections. The paper will contain questions on general aptitude (15 marks), engineering mathematics (10-13 marks) and core engineering area of the candidate.

    ☛ The questions will be of both multiple choice type and fill in the blanks type. While the Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) have negative markings for wrong answers, the numerical fill in the blanks type questions does not have any negative marking scheme.

    NLU DELHI INCREASES SEATS IN LLM COURSE FOR ADMISSION 2018:

    New delhi: NLU Delhi has issued an official notification informing that seats have been increased in LLM (one year) degree programme. Candidates are informed that LLM seats have been increased for Indian nationals as well as foreign nationals. There is still reservation of seats for LLM course admissions at National Law University (NLU), Delhi. The reservation of seats is such that 15% seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) category, 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) category and 5% for Persons with Disability (PwD) category.

    The seat distribution in LLM (one year) degree course offered at NLU Delhi is as mentioned below:

    ☛ The NLU-D had originally announced 40 seats (including five for foreign students) for the 2018 course, but after more than a month of the entrance exam, notified that the number of seats had been raised to 80. The entrance exam was held on May 6 while the notification announcing the increase in seats was issued on June 27 — six days before the declaration of results on July 2.

    ☛ “It is notified that the University has decided to increase the number of seats for admission to LL.M. programme for the academic session 2018-19.The seats will be filled strictly on the merit of AILET-2018 in the sport counselling scheduled to be held on July 13, 2018. The seats under Foreign National category will be filled up on the academic merit of qualifying examination,” the notification issued by the University read.

    ☛ “I didn’t apply for the entrance exam thinking it would be tough to crack into the top 40. Had they announced the increase in seats, I would have applied, since NLU was anyway my first choice. The other two contenders — IP University and Jindal School of Law — are very expensive,” a student, who graduated from Delhi University’s Faculty of Law told IANS on condition of anonymity. Another law graduate echoed this, saying if the NLU doesn’t go back to original number of seats next year, he will consider applying there for his masters and that it was unfair of the university to increase the seats after the entrance exam.

    ☛ The students’ contention of getting deterred by low number of seats advertised does not seem frivolous when one considers the fact that one has to shell out Rs 3,050 to qualify to sit for the entrance exam. When IANS contacted the University to discern the reason behind the late move, the answer was this was done to give a “wider reach of legal education to society” and that the decision was in “conformity with the Admission Announcement” where it was said that the “number of seats may vary”.

    ☛ “It may be noted that the increase in seats is not at all unfair on the part of the University. Rather it is a step to encourage the study of law so that more teachers and researchers are available in this field. “Moreover, the action taken by the University to increase the number of seats was also approved by the Academic Council and Executive Council,” NLU-D Registrar G.S. Bajpai said.

    ☛ However, he failed to provide any answer to the question as to why the NLU-D had admitted a lesser number of students than seats available in the last two years, as was revealed in reply to an RTI querry. The reply said NLU-D had admitted 40 students in 2016 against 50 seats advertised, while in 2017, it could fill only 23 of the 40 seats advertised.

    The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has announced the Bihar Board Class 10 Compartmental Results 2018 on the official website biharboard.online . It has been reported that the pass percentage of girls was 15.7% as compared to 10.9% boys. The pass percentage is 26.63% and the girls have outshined boys.

    ☛ Anand Kishor, announced that the Board would release the Class X compartmental exam results on Sunday (September 2) and on September 5. would release the second merit list of the selected candidates for admission in inter-colleges in streams like science (PCM and PCB), commerce and arts in 3,262 educational institutes across the state for the session 2018-20.

    ☛ Kishore also announced that the BSEB would conduct the admissions in Class XI in inter-colleges from this year onwards through OFSS (Online Felicitation System for Students).

    ☛ “Last year, we changed the exam pattern by introducing 50% objective questions and giving more options in questions to make it easy for the students. The board, however, partially succeeded in its initiative. The pass percentage of Class X had increased from 50.12% in 2017 to 68.89% in 2018, while the pass percentage of Class XII was also increased from 35.24% in 2017 to 52.95% in 2018,” Kishor said.

    UPSSSC TUBEWELL RECRUITMENT EXAM: THERE WAS NO CONFIDENCE UN THE PERSON:

    Lucknow: The exam for the tubewell operators under the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UPSSSC) were postponed after the Hindi question paper was leaked on Saturday. Announcing the decision to postponed the exam, the Lucknow District Magistrate said that the fresh dates for the UPSSSC tubewell operator exam will be announced soon.

    ☛ According to the reports, the UPSSSC exam paper was leaked a day before the exam was to be conducted on Sunday. The test was cancelled for the authorities got to know of the paper leak. The announcement was made on Saturday night, as per the reports. The tubewell operator exam was scheduled for a total of 3210 vacancies.

    ☛ The latest reports have it that the UP Special Task Force has held at least 11 people in connection with the UPSSSC paper leak case. Mobile phones, documents, Rs 15 lakh cash has also been seized. As soon as the reports of cancellation of the exam were made public, the students resorted to raising slogans and protesting against the authorities.

    “11 people were arrested last night, including their mastermind Sachin (a teacher), in connection with UP tubewell operator paper leak case. Some papers & cash was retrieved from them,” Prashant Kumar, ADG Meerut, said.

    ☛ In other reports, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which came under heavy criticism this year following the leak of class 10 mathematics paper and class 12 economics paper, has forged a partnership with tech giant Microsoft to prevent such leaks in the future.

    ☛ The paper leaks triggered nation-wide outrage among students and parents. This set the CBSE, which has 20,299 schools in the country, in action, paving the way for the partnership with Microsoft which developed an encrypted security solution for digital question papers for the board within a period of three months.

    ☛ On August 29, some of these students met Tomasz Kozlowski, ambassador of the European Union to India, who congratulated them for their excellent results and wished them the best for their studies in Europe.

    ☛ "Since Erasmus has been made available to countries outside the European Union 30 years ago in the spirit of building bridges and promoting people-to-people contacts, Indian students have consistently been among the top beneficiaries of this scholarship," he said.

    "Europe is an excellent destination for Indian students. European universities offer top-ranking education and research in a safe and culturally-stimulating environment. Being an Erasmus student will be an unforgettable, enriching experience and it will significantly improve the student's later career chances," he added.

    ☛ From 2014 till now, close to 330 Indian Higher Education Institutes have become a part of the Erasmus programme and there is interest to further expand education collaborations.

    ☛ The European-funded Erasmus programme not only gives scholarships to Indian students, but also supports Indian universities in a variety of cooperation programmes, where Indian partners take an increasingly active role.
