    A survey reveals: 28% of male students obese

  • A recent survey states that 28% of male and 14% of female students were obese, with a body mass index over 25.


  • In a survey conducted recently by The Sapiens Health Foundation it has been found that of 2,000 college students, aged 18 to 22, in the city found that less than half the respondents were aware of the healthy limits of sugar and salt in their daily diet. Most (90%) were unaware of normal blood pressure levels.

    ☛Only 45% of the respondents weighed right for their age and more girls surveyed (40%) as against boys (28.2%) were undernourished.

    From next year, it’ll be just one book per subject for class IX students

    A circular was sent by the Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation to Chief Educational and District Educational Officers stating that , From the next academic year, students of Class IX will receive one book per subject instead of three books now.

    It states a hint of possibility of reducing the curriculum in high and higher secondary schools in future and also raised concerns about the change in examination pattern.

    The State Council of Educational Research and Training had clarified that there would be no change in the exam pattern till Class 8.

    JEE MAIN 2019 TO BE HELD TODAY, 9.5 LAKH CANDIDATES TO APPEAR:

    JEE Main 2019 January Schedule, to be held today i.e., January 8, to January 20 2019 in two shifts.The national level exam will be conducted twice a year(January and April) in online computer based mode.Candidates can appear in either of the two or both. No formal dress code have been suggested by NTA(National Testing Agency) who is conducting the exam for the first time.Earlier , the exam was conducted by CBSE.

    ☛ Over 9.65 candidates have registered for JEE Main January session this year(26% candidates are female).

    JEE MAIN 2019: DO's AND DONT's

    DO's:

  • A4 sized printout of the admit card downloaded from the official website
  • Candidates should bring an original and photocopy of ID such as PAN card,driving licence,Aadhaar card,passport,voter ID etc.,
  • PwD category candidates should carry a certificate issued by competent authority,else will not be eligible for relaxation provided under the category


  • DONT's:

  • No stationary items(i.e,)pen,pencils, electronic items such as calculator and watches are not allowed inside the exam hall
  • ID cards issued by colleges/universities are not considered as valid ID proofs
  • Eatables and water are not allowed inside the exam hall
  • Aadhaar enrollment receipt without Aadhaar numbers is not allowed


  • More than 2000 free Computer Practice Centers set up to ensure that students get familiar to functionalities of the computer-based test via mock tests.Top 2 lakh rank holders in JEE Main are eligible to appear for next phase i.e., JEE Advanced , offering admissions to UG programs by IITs.As compared to last year , the cut off for JEE Advanced(2019) had dipped from 81 to 73.

    The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya(JNV) has released it's admit card for class IX Lateral entry test 2019.

    JNVST 2019 ADMIT CARD will be issued by Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti after the successfull completion of the application process.Candidates registered successfully will be able to download the admit card from the official website.Candidates will not be allowed in the examination centre without a valid JNVST admit card. Over 20 lakh of students applied for JNVST last year and the number is increasing every year. India has around 626 JNV schools out of which all are functional.

    On the basis of the marks scored, the students will be shortlisted and their documents will be cross-checked.The result will be declared on the official website only.
