    10/4/2018 12:00:00 AM
    NIOS TEST:

☛ As per the exam timetable, the paper for the subject, Data Entry, was scheduled between 2 pm and 3.30 pmat a centre, located next to Anglo Urdu Boys School and Junior College on Azam Campus.

☛ As many as 200 students of class 10 appearing for a practical examination on Wednesday, conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), alleged that they had not been provided the stipulated time of 90 minutes at one of the exam centres in the city.

☛ As per the exam timetable, the paper for the subject, Data Entry, was scheduled between 2 pm and 3.30 pm at a centre, located next to Anglo Urdu Boys School and Junior College on Azam Campus.

☛ The parents have complained that despite students reporting at the centre around 1.45 pm, they were allowed to enter the examination hall at 2.30 pm, well after the scheduled start time of 2 pm.

“The students were not informed of any change in timings and were given old computers to work on, which also hampered their performance,” said a tutor, who did not wish to be named.

☛ But the setback for the students came when the invigilators collected the answer sheets at 4 pm, cutting 30 minutes from the total time duration of the exam.“This meant that many students could not complete the 60-mark examination and they are now at loss,” the tutor added.

☛ When the Reporters contacted officials on the Azam campus, the invigilators admitted about the confusion regarding time management during one of the exam sessions held Wednesday.“The actual time of the exam was between 2 pm and 3.30 pm. But, we had another exam scheduled at the same centre, prior to this one. That is why, we could not keep up with the time and had to delay in starting the latter examination. Out of 40 students, only one complained of falling short of time,” said Muzzamil Palekar, co-ordinator of NIOS on Azam campus. He added, “How much time will you require to answer four questions? We informed the students at the start of the exam, that the duration would be one hour instead of 90 minutes.”

☛ The officials have asked affected students to place their grievances before the principal on Thursday.

11 SCORES NEEDS TO BE EMPHASIZED, EMPHASIZE ON EDUCATION SYSYTEMS:

    10/1/2018 12:00:00 AM
THE GOVERMENT SHOULD VALUE THE SCORE OF 11:

☛ Various educational institutions have insisted that the plus 1 should be a major initiative for the general score.

☛ The order passed by the Tamil Nadu government a year ago, has been canceled and the 'Plus 1 General Examination score, which will be taken into account by Higher Education'. That score does not require higher education. The government's announcement, however, is shocking that the plus 1 general examination is not required for higher education.

☛ The good aim of announcing the public examination for Plus 1 will no longer be fulfilled. The government's sudden policy change has been under pressure from private schools. In this announcement, students are not intended to benefit. In the one year announcement of the plus 1 examination, it is unchangeable, creating confusion and stress for students.

☛ Since the lack of importance for Plus 1, the state government has already indicated how poor the quality of education is, plus 1 public examination of the Government of Tamil Nadu. At present, according to the new government, there is a possibility that the worst state of the previous government has been resumed. Secondary education is the plus 1 plus 2, combined curriculum. You can get quality education in Plus 2 only if you read the full 1 plus.

☛ The private schools will not be able to do plus 1 lessons by the order of the Government of Tamil Nadu, Plus 1. Private schools will not be able to study for 2 years, the highest marks in the examination, in Kollur, plus the lessons of Plus 1, the higher education will fail. At the national level, entrance exam and competitive examinations, our students will not be able to qualify. So, plus 1 and plus 2, scores of two examinations should be taken into account for higher education.

☛ The old order is to be implemented. The Joint Commissioners, professor Prabha Nidimani, writer Madasamy, professors Kochadai, Joseph Prabhakar, parent-teacher association leader Kilivavalavan, 36 people have released this joint statement.

    CONFUSING PRACTICES; FAILED SYSTEM COUNSELLING-CENTAC:

    10/1/2018 12:00:00 AM
    CENTRALISED ADMISSION COMMITTEE (CENTAC):

☛ Because of CENTAC confusing practises, for the first time in India, Pondicherry is failed in newly introduced subjects of System counselling.

☛ For the first time in India, all courses in Pondicherry were initiated by a single umbrella through Centac, and computer counselling was introduced. Accordingly, the bill was awarded to the Alertment Card, where it was home without going to the counselling. But the other thing happened. The MBBS, which successfully conducted the Computer counselling Study, has been unable to conduct computer counselling for other courses.

☛ Turning back to regular live councils. Due to the confusing practices, the first time in India was introduced to all subjects in Puducherry. Scheduling does not make any decision on the censorship coming from Counciling, and in which case the counciling is a puzzle.

☛ Suddenly, the system is confused and confused and turned into direct counselling. The main reason for this is the lack of proper planning. Before the Government Council, the government should be informed about how and in what way the system is going to conduct a counselling. In this regard, computer technicians, academics, students and parents should be asked to make a decision. Learning how students face practical problems at any time and can be successful in conducting counselling.

CENTAC has published the counselling Guidelines for each subject. But they did not go to rural students because they were published in English. If published in regional languages like Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, at least counselling practices can be easily understood and accessed by students. Not only parents, students, but also the CENTAC officials have been confused by the system of counselling to introduce verbal instruction.

☛ It is not clear what counselling is going on in practice. All have been verbally ordered. This caused confusion to the stone administrators. The students were disturbed by following the higher education sector practices, whether to follow CENTAC verbal orders. Some rocks, including Tagore stone, took the decision in favour of the students. No understanding is the main reason for the failure of computer conflicts is its hard practice. There were four opportunities for students in the counselling area.

☛ First let's take thepresent draw in the counselling, do not have any other courses. Secondly, take the present card; In the next counselling, have to make a review. Third, let's not do the dress code now. For the next counselling, There is no fourth lesson available. There are four choices out of this. Other students who do not have space will get a seat if they choose one of these.

☛ But the students who got the place often take the present offer of the second option; In the next councils I have been asked to review them. Though they took the seat, they did not join the rocks. Three times reminiscent of the SMS, they did not notice.

Over 2,500 students did not update the course options without understanding this. If the update procedure is simplified to understand everyone, the system will be successful and will be a guide to India.

AICTE SETTING UP 4 TEACHER TRAINING ACADEMIES:

    10/1/2018 12:00:00 AM
    AICTE:

☛ The AICTE is setting up four teacher training academies in the country which will equip candidates with the latest changes in technical education, the council’s Chairman Anil Dattatraya Sahasrabudhe said Sunday. The academies, coming up at Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati, Baroda and Jaipur, will have eight modules that are semester-based, Sahasrabudhe told reporters on the sidelines of ‘The National Conference on Indian Higher Education: Quality Assurance, Accreditation & Ranking’ here.

☛ While the 2-acre Jaipur academy will start in one-and-a-half years, the other three academies will also start functioning within two years. The academies were being built on land provided free of cost by the respective state governments with minimum built-up infrastructure facility around the area.

☛ The academies will produce “motivated teachers, who will be conversant with fast changing technology in the technical education sector and the teachers’ training course curriculum was being chalked out accordingly,” he said. The top All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) official said the West Bengal government had been requested for one acre of land for setting up a teacher training academy three months back but “but there was no headway”.

☛ “We are still hopeful of a favourable response in future from Bengal,” he said. Urging the institutes to ask for accreditation from AICTE, he said “We will give four year time for accreditation with the enrolment fee of Rs 1 lakh”.

☛ “Based on our yardsticks the institutes can be accorded Excellent rating for six year period, or Good rating for three year period,” he said. Those having applied for accreditation but missed out on the ratings of “excellent” or “good”, will be granted “applied for” accreditation status, he said emphasising the accreditation status of concerned institutes will be updated on its website.

☛ “The accreditation will help institutions re-orient their curriculum in sync with the changing times, help in undertaking more innovative research projects and go for autonomy as the next step. Autonomy will contribute to the academic excellence of the said institution,” he said adding many state-run institutions are wary of going for the change and that in turn impede on their growth.

☛ Referring to the ‘Margdarshan’ project by AICTE, Sahasrabudhe said as part of this initiative, an institute of repute, government or government aided/self financed/AICTE approved will mentor 10 technical institutes for their technical upliftment. He said the AICTE was working towards reaching the 30-50 per cent accreditation figure for technical institutions over the next two years and 100 per cent in four years.

‘GOVT FOR FREE FLOW OF IDEAS’ IN EDCUATION, SAYS PM MODI:

    10/1/2018 12:00:00 AM
GOVT FOR FREE FLOW OF IDEAS’ IN EDCUATION

☛ PM Modi said that the University Grants Commission had recently issued Graded Autonomy Regulations, after which over 60 higher educational institutions and universities were granted autonomy.

☛ Saying that the government supports the “free flow of ideas” in educational institutions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday pointed to the move to grant greater autonomy to Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) as a step in that direction.

☛ Addressing the inaugural session of a conference on ‘Academic Leadership on Education for Resurgence’, the Prime Minister, referring to autonomy to IIMs, said,“Sarkar kahin nahi aayegi, koi babu aakar nahi baithega (Government will not interfere, no officer will have any role).”

☛ The IIM Act, which came into effect on January 31, grants statutory powers to all 20 IIMs, including for appointment of directors and chairpersons and Board members. With this law, the institutes can also award degrees, instead of diplomas, to their postgraduate programmes.

☛ Hailing this as a“landmark experiment” related to higher education, the Prime Minister said the government would take this forward to more institutions. “But I am surprised that this is not being discussed in the country. Intellectuals are silent… those who were advocating autonomy and had been writing about it for 20-25 years would not have imagined it,” the PM said, adding that these “intellectuals” were silent because they didn’t want the “credit to go to Modi”.

☛ The PM also said that the University Grants Commission had recently issued Graded Autonomy Regulations, after which over 60 higher educational institutions and universities were granted.

☛ Modi also stressed that universities and higher educational institutions need to give equal emphasis to innovation as they give to knowledge.

☛ Invoking B R Ambedkar, Deendayal Upadhyay and Ram Manohar Lohia on education, the PM said their ideas had made it clear that education without a goal was “nothing more than a certiicate hanging from a hook”.

☛ The PM also said that the government was going to increase the number of ‘Atal Tinkering Labs’ in schools – from 2,000 now to 5,000 over the next few months – to encourage children to innovate.

☛ Modi said scholars and students should take responsibility for spreading digital literacy and generating greater awareness of government programmes such as Ayushman Bharat.

    SUPPLEMENTARY EXAMINATIONS:

☛ In a Tamil Nadu State Government order released on 23rd September by the Chief Secretary of the Department of Education, Pradeep Yadav, it is mentioned:

☛ After the recent announcement of the special supplementary examination scheduled to be conducted in June-July, the number of applications from the students to write the seasonal supplementary examinations conducted usually in September and October has come down drastically.

☛ Though the number of applications is very less, the government still needs to indulge in all activities of organizing these supplementary examinations just like the March examinations. This schedule severely affects the teaching schedules of the teachers apart from the huge organizing expenses incurred by the state government.

☛ Considering all the above factors, the Director of the Examinations Directorate requested the state government to stop conducting the September-October seasonal supplementary examinations for the candidates of SSLC, +1, and +2.

☛ This recommendation was accepted by the state government and subsequently, an order has been issued that only the special supplementary examinations in June-July season will be conducted for the SSLC. +1, and +2 students who had failed in the March Public Examinations from the Academic Year 2019-2020. And the supplementary examinations conducted for these candidates during the September-October season is cancelled.
