STUDY PLAN FOR GATE 2019: HERE’S HOW TO PREPARE WITHOUT COACHING:

    11/13/2018 12:00:00 AM
    STUDY PLAN FOR GATE 2019:

☛ IIT Madras will conduct GATE 2019 on February 2, 3, 9 and 10. The exam will be on 24 subjects including Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Architecture and Planning, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering among other subjects.

    STUDY PLAN

☛ To ace your preparation for GATE 2019, we suggest you try relying on the C4 technique. The C4 technique consists of the 4 Cs of concepts, confidence, command and the creation of useful shortcuts, for the preparation. For a better understanding of this idea of C4, we elaborate each of the Cs in detail:

C1- Understanding of the Concepts: Till you aren’t content with fixing the loopholes of your preparation, you need to grasp the concepts using questions like “what?” “why?” and “how?”

C2 – Boost up Your Confidence: Once fostering up your concepts, the second mantra to ace the preparation is to recollect these concepts for a certain number of times. This activity will result in enhancing your confidence to get to the right answers for any of the questions of any of the concepts.

C3 – Gain and Maintain the Command: For attaining better grasping of the concepts, you should create space for practicing more questions from several sources. Meanwhile, when practicing these problems, you must also consider other methods to solve them to arrive at the same answer.

C4 – Creating shortcuts: Preparing honestly for the test is one of the spheres, at least, where shortcuts can prove to be extremely time saving for you. This is particularly so, when going through revision. Hence, we advise you to incorporate shortcuts into your methodology to solve your problems.

    WHEN TAKING THE EXAM:

☛ The first of the points when talking about the solving of the problems first, you must evidently grab the easier ones. It is a more prudent thing to do when performing in already stressed situation as that of an exam! This will benefit you in more than one way. It will greatly help in boosting up your confidence for the tougher counterparts. It will make you mentally well-prepared for tackling the tougher problems as it will demarcate a line of separation between the easier and the tougher problems. This will lead you to better management of the exam, on the whole.

☛ Next comes the front of your replies getting negatively rewarded if you happen to solve them incorrectly. The front of negative marking, therefore, is also an issue that you must be vigilant for. Sound preparation and better time management are the factors that can minimise your loss.

☛ Moreover, you mustn’t be in a hurry. You must carefully read and evaluate the difficulty levels of the problems. Thereafter, you must attempt them according to the tip mentioned above. Summing up finally, it will be wise to remind you for the changeability of the pattern of the exam.

☛ Hence, to deal with the problems, your plan should also be dynamic and adaptable according to the immediate changes, as and when they happen.

☛ The statement further had written in it that on the completion of the constitution of the Boards, the rules under the IIM Act would be issued, which would bring out the operational details more clearly. AIIMS TO ADOPT TWO STAGE REGISTRATION METHOD TO REDUCE APPLICATION REJECTION:

    11/13/2018 12:00:00 AM
AIIMS TO ADOPT TWO STAGE REGISTRATION:

☛ AIIMS will follow the Prospective Applicants Advanced Registration (PAAR) model for MBBS application as well. The PAAR model was adopted earlier for AIIMS PG applications. AIIMS conducts PG entrance exam twice in a year. The PAAR model removed the necessity to register twice. Now candidates need to complete basic registration only once and apply for one or both the exams by completing the final registration process separately.

☛ In the notice released by AIIMS, the corresponding exam authority said that a majority of rejection was due to improper filling of details in the application form other than the educational qualification. The two-stage process is expected to reduce the rejections which stem from wrong or incomplete information provided at the time of application.

☛ The two-stage process will include a Basic Registration and a final registration. The basic registration process will be conducted much in advance. In this stage, candidates will need to provide only basic details and upload images. These details will be screened and a candidate will be allowed enough time to make corrections. Basic Registration will be free of cost.

☛ Students who complete basic registration will only be allowed to complete the final registration when the process starts. In this stage candidates will have to fill qualification details and select exam city etc.

☛ The two-stage process will also reduce anomalies which are caused due to application form deadlines.

☛ The PAAR model will be implemented by AIIMS from 2019. The first Basic registration process is expected to initiate in the second week of November 2018 with final registration for AIIMS MBBS 2019 in February 2019.

NOW FULL TIME IDE DIRECTOR APPOINTED IN MADRAS UNIVERSITY:

    11/12/2018 12:00:00 AM
    MADRAS UNIVERSITY:

☛ On Friday, 9th November 2018, University of Madras or MU grabbed many eyeballs. The reason is professor K. Ravichandran, controller of examinations (in-charge) was appointed as the director of IDE or Institute of Distance Education. Now IDE has got a full time director after a period of 3 years. Professor K. Ravichandran is an expert in analytical chemistry is known.

☛ It must not be forgotten that professor S. Karunanidhi was holding additional charge as director of IDE for the last 6 months. Vice-chancellor of University of Madras, P. Duraisamy headed a committee and this committee was responsible for selecting this new full time director of IDE. As many as 10 candidates were interviewed by this committee and finally professor Ravichandran was selected as the full time director of IDE. According to the sources, MU had conducted interview to appoint a full time director for IDE after a time of 7 years. It is well known that the admissions in the distant education programmes have been on decline and this appointment of new fulltime director of IDE comes at this critical juncture.

☛ The professors expressed their views regarding the immediate work of the new director of IDE. They spoke about how the new director would be responsible for bringing out the reading materials plus play a vital role in conducting examinations in semester patterns and personal contact programmes etc. The professors were of the opinion that new courses were needed to be identified by the new director. They finally hinted that the market driven courses could stem the decline in the admissions.

☛ There are 2 important posts in MU after vice-chancellor post and register post and they are the posts of director of IDE and controller of examinations or CoE. On Friday evening, the syndicate of MU got together and gave approval to 2 appointments- director of IDE and controller of examinations. It is worthy to mention here that professor of inorganic chemistry, K. Pandian was appointed as the controller of the examinations or CoE. Professor Pandian is an expert in Nanotechnology, surface chemistry and catalyst and polymer science is known.

☛ The shocking piece of information is the enrolment in IDE programmes has come down to 12500 in this year when compared to the last year when the enrolment was 28000.This poor enrolment was due to the delay in starting the admissions in this year after UGC brought forth stringent conditions in the number of teaching staffs in this year. It is brought out that the syndicate also agreed the appointment of 12 teaching staffs in the rank of assistant professors to associate professors for 10 subjects in the Institute of Distance Education. Hence the professors belonging to regular departments who were deployed to IDE would be asked to come back.

KERALA GOVERNMENT PROJECT TO HELP MIGRANT POPULATION’S CHILDREN JOIN SCHOOLS:

    11/9/2018 12:00:00 AM
KERALA GOVERNMENT PROJECT TO HELP MIGRANT POPULATION’S CHILDREN:

Kochi: A project was being implemented to make children of migrant population enrol themselves in schools and also check the dropout rate among the most backward sections in Ernakulam district of Kerala, Collector of the district K Mohammed Y Safirulla said here on Thursday.

☛ The project 'Roshni' has support from the district panchayat, education department, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, which is a programme aimed at universalisation of elementary education, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), he told PTI. There were around 2,500 migrant children in over 18 schools in the district, and their school dropout rate was high, the Collector said.

☛ The pilot project was successfully implemented from October 2017 to February 2018 in four selected schools in which the highest number of migrant children study and it was extended to 14 more schools this academic year, he said. A survey conducted by Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan indicated that over 2,500 migrant children mostly from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, and Nepal had been enrolled in the schools, he said.

☛ Also, studies showed that the children were not regular to classes and many of the students dropped out even in the middle of the academic years, the Collector said. Belonging to different linguistic communities and being in a classroom with Malayalam as the instructional language, the children found it difficult to adapt to the environment in schools, he said.

☛ To end this problem, the district administration arranged for extra classes in the mornings for about 90 minutes to teach Malayalam, English and Hindi, Safirulla said. Service of educational volunteers proficient in Hindi, Bengali and Odiya was provided to help children communicate easily, he said. Bharat Petroleum Corporation provides financial aid to the project.

JEE MAIN 2019: THIS TWO MONTH STRATEGY WILL HELP YOU NAIL THE EXAM:

    11/9/2018 12:00:00 AM
    JEE MAIN 2019:

☛ While November might be a month of festivities for everyone else, but if you are a JEE Main aspirant, it is a crucial time for your future. With less than three months left for the first session of JEE Main 2019, just like you, lakhs of students across India are leaving no stones unturned to secure a seat in prestigious institutes like IITs and NIITs.

☛ Your preparation during these final months has a large impact on your final performance. Additionally, factors like your attitude, ability to stay calm under pressure and time-management skill also affect your chances of getting admission to your dream college. Making your life a wee bit easier, here is a two-month strategy to ace the exams:

Work on your weak areas: Writing the test is just a job half done. After the test, make sure to evaluate your paper and find out your mistakes. Work on your weak spots to resolve them well before the actual exam takes place.

Make a study plan: It’s better to make a study plan for every day to ensure you are picking up all the loose ends. You may know your strengths and weaknesses, try to allocate an equal amount of time for each subject.

Prepare for online:More importantly, acquaint yourself with the various aspects of online examination as JEE Main is a computer-based exam. While some of you may be used to taking tests on pen and paper, prepare yourself for the computer-based format. You can do this by either visiting practice centres or practising on e-learning apps.

Select the order of your subjects: Since the question paper will have three different sections for each subject, find out which order is preferable for you to get the best results.

Keep revising: Apart from taking online tests, don’t forget to jog your memory by going back to the notes and flashcards you made earlier.

Healthy competition:Some of you may not like to group study in the last month, but being in a competitive setting may have a positive impact on your mindset.

    Last-moment preparation

Keep up your routine: Don’t commit the mistake of stressing yourself in the last few days before the exam. Keep a normal study routine and avoid staying up late at night.

Pack your bag in advance: Make sure to keep all the stationery items, a print out of your hall ticket and required identity proof ready.

Keep calm: Having anxiety is quite natural before the night of your exam. Hence, try to keep your calm with motivational videos.

Don’t forget to eat: Have some light food before leaving for the exam hall. Ensure that you drink enough water and stay hydrated.

☛ Having a positive attitude is the main key to achieve success — be it JEE Main or any other examination. Put your soul and mind into studying without thinking much of the results. Even if you fail to achieve your desired scores, don’t lose hope. If not this time, you can always turn the tables in the next session of JEE Main this April.
