The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rainfall in Chennai from Tuesday for the next two days due to cyclonic circulations over South Tamil Nadu. Close to 70 per cent of the state’s rainfall is received during the northeast monsoon which is from October to December. 	The Education Minister has reasoned that introducing a standard question paper for all schools will facilitate uniformity in conducting school examinations. Over four thousand government and government-aided schools of Tripura Saturday conducted the first-ever half-yearly exams with a centralised question paper for classes 3 to 9.The new centralised question paper system is being monitored and regulated by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and Department of Education.Speaking to reporters, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said, “This is the first time in the history of Tripura that exams across the state are being conducted with a centralised question paper. Exams of English started from 9 am today for classes 3 to 5 across 4,500 government and government-aided schools. Exams of the classes 6 to 9 standards have commenced from 1 pm.” The Education Minister has reasoned that introducing a centralised question paper for all schools will facilitate uniformity in conducting school examinations. In an effort to assess true educational status of students studying in different schools of the state, Tripura’s ruling BJP-IPFT announced ‘Notun Disha’ (New Direction) aimed to best equip students from class 3 to 8, in February this year. It involved an educational assessment on each student of the state from class 3-8 between February 25 and 28 this year.Baseline Survey reports under Notun Disha scheme revealed that 57 per cent of students studying between Class 3-8 is unable to read words, sentences or even solve basic arithmetic such as addition or subtractions. A total of 3.16 lakh students were surveyed under the scheme. 	After extending the benefits of 'Jai Bhim' scholarship scheme to all students, the Delhi government is planning to launch an online portal for it. The Delhi government is planning to launch an online portal for the benefits of the Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana to all students.After a meeting with officials on Thursday, Minister of Social Welfare Rajendra Pal Gautam said the online portal would reduce the time and effort to verify documents, like income and case certificates. On September 3, the Delhi cabinet gave its nod to include students of Other Backward Caste (OBCs) and general category in the Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana and also to increase the financial assistance from Rs 40,000 to Rs 1 lakh for coaching of competitive examinations.The Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana, launched last year, is aimed at providing free coaching to SC/ST students in preparation for examinations conducted by UPSC, DSSSB, SSC, Railway Recruitment Board and others.Group A and B examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), various Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) and Judicial Services Examination.
