JEE ADVANCED 2019: EXTRAMARKS REVAMPS ITS TEST PREP APP IN ORDER TO ADJUST THE EXAM PATTERN:

    11/21/2018 12:00:00 AM
    JEE ADVANCED 2019:

☛ The Joint Entrance Exam for admission into the premier IITs is among the toughest, most cut-throat competitive exams in India. One could argue that in terms of scale and selection, it is among the toughest exams in the world. No wonder then that preparation stress and anxiety dominates the life of most aspirants, who are in search of a credible resource to help them crack the JEE entrance with confidence.

☛ The doyen of digital learning, Extramarks, has recently revamped its IIT-JEE app to cater to the exam prep of engineering aspirants, especially keeping in mind the latest developments in the exam pattern. As is common knowledge now, the National Testing Agency (NTA), constituted in November 2017, will be conducting the IIT-JEE entrance test, 2019 onwards.

☛ The test will be held twice, once in January and then in April, but the most significant aspect of this development is that the test will only take place in the ONLINE mode.

☛ This being a new development, the anxiety among students, who are as yet not prepared to deal with exam pressure in the online mode, is on a rise. Bearing this in mind, Extramarks has remodeled its IIT-JEE Prep app into a robust testing platform, to give students a complete hang of the online climate of testing. The gap created by the change in exam format, as announced in July this year, is being bridged by the timely introduction of the app by Extramarks.

☛ "We have developed a robust testing engine, which can tremendously benefit the students looking at giving the JEE exam in 2019," shared Atul Kulshrestha, Chairman and Managing Director, Extramarks Education. He further adds, "Experts and educators with proven test records have been brought on board to create and curate practice and mock test papers. We've been very meticulous while shaping our IIT-JEE app, keeping up with the current changes and needs."

☛ The app boasts of a Weekly Test series, wherein, once a week, students can avail the opportunity to be nationally tested along with their peers, thus gaining a comprehensive insight into where they stand. Like Atul shared, educators whose students have gained top ranked in the previous IIT entrance exams, have curated this series of tests.

☛ They will help students get a feel of the actual exam. In addition, several mock test papers, practice test papers and previous years papers are available through the app as well. Extramarks deeply believes in personalization of the learning experience, and keeping that in mind, there is an option for the students to self-create chapter and subject-wise tests, picking areas they think they need more practice in.

ENGINEERING VS MBA- HOW TO COMPARE IN EMPLOYABILITY AND JOB PROSPECTS:

    11/21/2018 12:00:00 AM
    ENGINEERING VS MBA:

☛ Engineering and MBA are without a doubt two of the most popular degrees in the country and abroad. While engineering is an undergraduate and graduate degree, MBA is only a graduate degree open for students from app streams. But which is more popular with the companies? Who have a higher chance of getting a job after they complete their degree? India Skill Report suggests that the scales are tipped in favour of the technical course - engineering.

☛ Engineering continues to be a top choice with lakhs of students appearing for the engineering entrance examinations every year. Lakhs of Indian students graduate as engineers every year, with nearly 12,000 coming out of the various IITs and twice the number from NITs and other Tier II engineering institutes.

☛ The other equally popular degree choice for career is MBA. Though the numbers are far less, MBA continues to be a desirable degree. And yet how do the two compare? Should a student undertake master’s in engineering or pursue an MBA to score a job? Here is how the two compare in employability and job prospects.

☛ As per a recent India Skill Report 2019 which was jointly prepared by People Strong, Wheebox and CII in partnership with the All India Council for Technical Education, AICTE and published recently, employability of engineering graduates continued to increase while that of MBA graduates has shown a significant 3 percent dip.

☛ However, is it correct to compare the two? What does it signify? And how does one choose? In the simplest manner, the report simply suggests that the engineering students or BE/BTech graduates are more employable in terms of the skills that they have. The same report further points out that the gap between the employability of the engineering graduates and the MBA graduates is increasing.

☛ The survey was conducted over a period of 3.5 months across the country and over 3 lakh students participated in the survey. What one must note here is that the survey measures the skill sets of students, in turn highlighting the MBA schools that fail to deliver.

NEET 2019: MADRAS HC STAYS ORDER REGARDING ELIGIBILITY CLAUSE FOR MEDICAL COURSES ABROAD:

    11/20/2018 12:00:00 AM
    NEET 2019:

☛ The Madras High Court on Monday stayed a single judge's order barring the MCI and the Centre from issuing eligibility certificate to students who secure less than 80 per cent marks in the qualifying examination to pursue medical courses in foreign countries.

☛ A division bench comprising Justice M Sathyanarayanan and Justice N Seshasayee, hearing an appeal by the Board of Governors in supression of Medical Council of India, granted the interim stay and posted the matter to December 17 for next hearing. The bench also issued notices to the Centre, the Tamil Nadu Medical Council and the state government.

☛ The appeal challenged the September 28 order of Justice N Kirubakaran, contending that the single judge had increased the minimum qualification marks from 50 per cent to 80 per cent without any challenge to the stipulation. The judge had erroneously re-legislated the provisions of regulation on graduate medical education 1997, it submitted.

☛ Justice Kirubakaran had passed the order on a petition by foreign medical degree-holder Thamarai Selvan seeking a direction to the MCI to issue a certificate of provisional registration to enable him to take up the compulsory rotatory residential internship (CRRI) in the state.

☛ He had pointed out that in the past 10 years, only 15-25 per cent of doctors with foreign degrees managed to clear the mandatory screening test, the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination, conducted by the National Board of Examination, to practise the profession in India and hence, directed increasing the minimum qualification marks.
