NEET 2019:NTA TO CONDUCT EXAM IN FEBRUARY AND MAY, INTRODUCE THE CHANGES:

    8/24/2018 12:00:00 AM
    NEET 2019:NTA:

☛ From 2019, instead of CBSE,NEET UG would be conducted by newly formed NTA or National Testing Agency.

☛ National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET for undergraduate medical and dental admissions would be conducted by National Testing Agency –NTA instead of CBSE from 2019. In an announcement, the MHRD had officially launched the NTA and confirmed that NTA would be conducting NEET 2019 twice a year, along with other entrance examinations like UGC NET, JEE Mains, CMAT and GPAT. NTA NEET 2019 would be conducted in February and May.

    NTA-NEET IMPORTANT CHANGES:

☛ The biggest change that has been introduced for NEET is that the examination would be conducted twice every year instead of just once. Also, the examination would be conducted in 8 different sessions and the candidates would have an option of choosing on which date to appear for the examination.

☛ Another big change is that the examination would be strictly online. NTA is doing away with pen and paper based tests and would introduce online examinations.

☛ As per the report, NTA would be using artificial intelligence and introducing computer adaptive testing. In this process (used for international examinations like GMAT), the level of difficulty keeps increasing.

☛ In a first, to improve the quality of testing, NTA would employ psychometric analysts and train the item writers. Also, the AI techniques would be introduced to ensure error free question papers and answer keys.

    TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:

☛ According to the tentative schedule, JEE (Main) will be held in January 2019 and April 2019. On the other hand, NEET (UG) will take place in February 2019 and May 2019 and UGC-NET will be held in December 2018.

☛ The agency will also conduct the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) as well as Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) exams. Also, all these exams will now take place in computer-based format to ensure leak- proof exams.

☛ The time table of the exams to be conducted by NTA would be uploaded on the ministry’s website. The IITs would continue to conduct JEE-Advanced exam, the Minister said.

    NO CHANGES IN SYLLABUS,PATTERN,FREE:

“The syllabus, nature of questions, language choice as well as the exam fee will not change, however, the method of exam is now going to be only computer-based”, said Javadekar.

☛ The official statement said that the tests would be conducted in multiple sittings and a candidate will have an option of dates to choose from. Scores of different candidates in multiple sittings will also be equated using standardisation techniques.

    PRACTICE CENTRES:

☛ To ensure that everyone has an opportunity to practice before the exam, the testing agency will establish a network of test practice centres for the students of the rural areas, the statement added.

☛ Schools/engineering colleges with computer centres would be identified and kept open on Saturday/Sunday, starting from third week of August. Any student can use the facility free of charge.

☛ The Union Cabinet in November 2017 approved NTA as an autonomous and self-sustained testing organisation to conduct the entrance examinations for higher educational institutions.

SUPREME COURT GIVES MAJOR BLOW TO DEEMED UNIVERSITIES NO ADMISSION WITHOUT AICTE APPROVAL:

    7/27/2018 12:00:00 AM

    SUPREME COURT NEW DELHI::

☛ In a vital development, the Supreme Court has given a severe blow to the Deemed Universities and passed a restraining order staying admission in Deemed Universities without prior approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

☛ On 23.03.2018, bench of Justices Adarsh Kumar Goel, R F Nariman and U U Lalit issued notice on the Transfer Petition and passed its order. In the meanwhile, there will stay on admissions without the approval of the AICTE.

“The order passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court will have its impact across all states in view of the interim stay on admissions, requiring all deemed and deemed-to-be universities to seek approval of AICTE,” said Ravi Bhardwaj, senior educationist.

☛In view of this order only those universities, which had been established by a Central, or a State law can be called a university and no institution, which has been recognised as a deemed university can use the word ‘university’.

☛ AICTE Act excludes Deemed Universities from its purview and hence carrying out a legislative amendment, AICTE had no authority to bring the Deemed Universities under its control.

    AICTE APPROVAL PROCESS HANDBOOK:

☛ The Handbook is a Legal Document as per All India Council for Technical Education Act, 1987 (52 of 1987) and Section (4.11) of Gazette Policy Regulation No. F.No: AB/ AICTE/ REG/ 2016 of AICTE dated November 30, 2016 Notified on November 30, 2016 in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-III, Section-4 and amended on December 5, 2017.

    F. No.: AICTE/P&AP/PGDM/2017 dated December 14, 2017 All India Council for Technical Education (Norms and Standards for the Conduct of Post Graduate Diploma in Management) Regulations, 2017 Notified on December 14, 2017. Regulations for Vocational Education Notified on December 05, 2012 and All India Council for Technical Education (Grant of Approval for conducting Vocational Education Program, Community College Course(s) and Skill Knowledge Provider under National Skill Qualification Framework) Regulations, 2014 Notified on February 03, 2016.

☛ The universities who got approval from AICTE can visit the web portal for further details www.aicte- india.org
