	Deadline extended to May 31 to apply for vacant medical seats	5/29/2019 12:00:00 AM
	Students who have already applied will not be allowed to apply again. As per an official statement, The Centre has extended the last date for admission of students for postgraduate courses in states to May 31. The decision was taken to fill up around 2,000 seats that remained vacant even after the second round of counselling.On Tuesday, the Health Ministry had asked the Medical Council of India (MCI) to consider extending the last date for PG medical admission in states following which the issue was examined by the Board of Governors (BoG). According to the earlier time schedule notified by MCI, the last date for filling up of Post Graduate Medical seats by the states was May 18. 	The application forms will be released after the entrance exam procedures are decided. The varsity is yet to take the call on the rules for entrance exam which will be conducted by the NTA. The Delhi University (DU) has once again postponed the date of release of the application forms for admission to undergraduate courses at the varsity. Earlier, the exams were expected to begin early but leading to several changes in the pattern the release date kept on being delayed. The application forms will be released by June at the official website, du.ac.in. The varsity is deciding the procedure and other formalities for making the National Testing Agency the exam conducting body for the DU, however, a major delay in decision making might postpone the entire procedure of roping in NTA to the next academic session.The proposal for DU’s entrance exam has been approved by the admissions committee and has reached NTA who has given a nod to the proposal. The rules for the exam will be discussed in the upcoming meeting of the academic council (AC) only after the approval will this be implemented, as per the varsity rules. “The portal for merit-based and entrance exams is same and the applications for both will begin together,” said Gupta. Meanwhile, the varsity has also released the syllabus for several entrance exams. Last year, the DU admission forms were released by May 15, 2019. This year, despite state boards having declared their results in record time, the varsity is yet to finalise the date of release of application forms. Several new changes including an online ‘best of four’ calculator are also being implemented from this year onwards. 	As per a meeting held Monday, the DU admissions will likely start from May 30, while the admission portal to reopen for foreign nationals from June 16. The Delhi University's admission committee is yet to decide on the agency that will conduct the entrance exams for admission to various courses in the varsity, leading to a delay in the start of the process. The Delhi University is likely to begin the admission process from May 30, sources said Monday. This has by far been the most delayed admission session, officials said.As per the sources in a meeting held on Monday, it was decided that the registration process will commence from May 30 and will go on for a fortnight. The cut-offs will be announced by the varsity almost a week after the registration process ends. They said the admission portal will show candidates details like how many seats are available in the college and the course they are applying for, how many students have applied for those seats and how fast are the seats being filled up.Also, the Delhi University will be reopening its admission portal for foreign nationals from June 16, the varsity said. The online process for admission to various courses in the university, which commenced on February 22, had ended earlier.Admissions in the second phase will be done after admissions in the first phase are over, and depending on the availability of seats, it added.
