FROM THE STATE OF TAMILNADU, THERE IS 17% INCREASE IN NEET APPLICATION:

    12/15/2018 12:00:00 AM
    17% INCREASE IN NEET APPLICATION:

☛ The truth that was revealed now is many students belonging to the state of Tamil Nadu want to study medicine after finishing their plus 2. This has been shown in the increase in the number of candidates applying for NEET. It was pointed out by an official data that for the medical admissions in TN, there has been 17 percent increase in the number of candidates. In the 2017-18 it was 1.2 lakh and now in 2018-19 the number has increase to 1.4 lakh.

☛ In the month of May in 2019, NEET examination would be conducted and the superb piece of information is the centre has increased the number of cities in which the NEET test would be conducted. It is well known that in the last year centre faced criticisms for not alloting enough examination centres in TN. One important point is last year the NEET examination took place in only 10 cities including Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy. Many students belonging to rural and interior places of TN were forced to go to other states for NEET examination. Many students were not able to reach these exam centres in correct time and they were not allowed to write the test.

☛ In TN, places like Cuddalore, Thanjavur, Nagercoil and Karur would have exam centres for NEET this time. More than 26000 students preferred exam centres in and around Chennai and 19000 preferred exam centres in the four newly added cities out of total registrations.

☛ It must not be forgotten that the TN had promised many times that it would pressurise the centre to clear the Bills passed in the state assembly for permanent exemption from NEET. The opposition parties and activists wanted to scrap NEET it totally as it would create issues for many students belonging to the rural places in TN. The fact is little progress has been made in this. The state government has set up as many as 413 coaching centres to train the students belonging to government funded schools. The important point is private colleges funded the training programmes as Rs 20 crores allotted by the government towards training programme remains idle.

☛ According to the school education minister, Mr. Sengottaiyan, a total of 26000 students are being trained in these coaching centres. He was hopeful of atleast 500 students joining MBBS/BDS courses by clearing NEET-UG 2019. The official data pointed out that last year only government school students managed to secure medical admissions.

IIT MADRAS: SEPERATE ENTRY FOR VEGETARIAN AND NON-VEGETARIAN STUDENTS SPARK ROW, MUCH SAY POLICY DIVERSE:

    12/15/2018 12:00:00 AM
    IIT MADRAS:

☛ Posters earmarking separate entry and exit points and wash basins for vegetarian and non-vegetarian students have been allegedly pasted at a mess of the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, kicking up a row with a section of students alleging discrimination. While pictures of the posters bearing the name of a local caterer and pasted near the doors of the mess were circulated by some students on the social media, an official pleaded ignorance about them and said if found to be true the handbills will be removed.

☛ A student said the posters had been put up near two entrances of the north Indian mess located on the second floor of Himalaya Mess Complex, specifying separate entry points and wash basins for non-vegetarian and vegetarian students. One of the pictures of the poster circulated on social media read "Hand Wash Vegetarian Students" while another said "Winter vacation mess - food arrangements. Entry/exit non vegetarian food students." When contacted, an official in the mess monitoring and control committee of IIT-M told PTI that he was unaware of the posters. He also said arrangements were made for preparing Jain food (without onion or garlic) and he was unaware of any discriminatory arrangements based on vegetarian and non-vegetarian.

☛ A research scholar alleged that what started as a demand for a mess catering to 'pure' vegetarians last year had now become full-fledged untouchability'. "This is the first time a mess has two separate entrances for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Not just that, even separate wash basins and separate utensils as well," the student, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.

☛ According to some students, there has been demand from a section of students for a separate vegetarian mess ever since the 'beef festival' incident in May last year. A research scholar was allegedly thrashed for taking part in the 'beef festival' by some students claimed to be Sangh Parivar supporters.

JEE MAIN 2019 ADMIT CARDS ON MONDAY-TIPS TO OPTIMIZE LAST MONTH PREPARATIONS WHILE MANAGING PRE-BOARDS:

    12/15/2018 12:00:00 AM
    JEE MAIN 2019:

☛ Admit Cards for Joint Entrance Examination, JEE Main 2019 January examination would be released on Monday – December 17, 2018. Admit cards often usher in the anxiety of the upcoming examinations. Many students are looking at the January examination as a first attempt and a trial. However, the anxiety of the JEE examination is still very real.

☛ Adding to the preparation is the pre-boards that would eat into the usual time a student would be able to give to the preparation. Here are few tips to help students (and their parents) in the last month preparation ahead of the crucial entrance examination – all the while managing the pre-boards.

TIPS TO CRACK JEE MAIN 2019 IN FIRST ATTEMPT:

☛ Set up your examination time table – if not already done. The advice has been given aplenty and yet it is something as basic as understanding the formula before attempting a numerical. Remember, it is the discipline that would help you remain focussed in the attempt.

☛ Don’t bet on April 2019 examination. The fact that you have another attempt to improve your score can be a deterrent and make you lazy or worse - complacent. It is hence important to look at the January attempt as more than a mock test and in-fact the real examination.

☛ Set reasonable targets. Experts concur in the strategy of knowing what you know and do best. Some students also take the opportunity of their first attempt as checking how prepared they are in a particular set of topics. Set your targets and expectations with the topics you are absolutely thorough with and keep the focus on those to ensure that you attain a higher level of accuracy.

☛ Do not miss a pre-board. Many teachers and parents have shared the requests of students to miss the pre-boards as they are preparing for the JEE Main examinations. However, writing the pre-board may be the best break from the otherwise stressful preparations. Pre-boards may also help students assess how well they know a particular subject as the Class 12 syllabus is an integral part of JEE Main examination.

☛ Mock tests are always helpful. Try and do at least 5 or about 10 mock tests and carefully practice the questions that you find the most difficult. If possible, try online test practices. NTA has created test practice centres across the country. Trying it in the same format would help you understand the format well and help you during the examination. Students can book a mock test or practice test at the regional centres through nta.ac.in.

BPSC 2018 CIVIL SERVICES PRELIMS EXAM ON DECEMBER 16: HERE’S SOME TIPS FOR LAST MINUTE PREPARATION:

    12/15/2018 12:00:00 AM
    BPSC 2018:

☛ Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC)?will conduct its 64th prelims examination on December 16,Sunday. Over 5 lakh aspirants will appear for the BPSC?PT exam on Sunday at 808 centres across Bihar including 93 centres in the state capital Patna. BPSC, the highest recruiting body in Bihar will recruit for 1400 vacancies in the state, this year.

☛ If you are one of the 5 lakh aspirants who will take the 64th BPSC?prelims on Sunday, here are some tips and things to keep in mind before you take the exam, given by Dr M Rahman of Rahman’s Gurukool in?Patna.

    TIPS TO BRUSH-UP YOUR KNOWLEDGE:

Revise your notes: Last few days are meant for revision only. The notes containing all important topics and highlighted points should be fresh in your mind. Revise as much as you can.

Practice set: Practice sets will also help you in revision. The types and angles of questions asked in the mock tests help you to get a clear picture on how the questions can be. There are a number of practice sets available in the market and online as well. But always go for a reputed brand of publisher for mock tests.

Don’t read books: Yes you heard it right. Don’t buy any new book. New books can only confuse you with what you have read earlier and what is given in the new one.

Current affairs: Always be updated of what is happening around you. Keep reading newspapers and current affairs related to Bihar. Any major development of the state can be in the questions. Also, all major national developments of last few months are also important.

Previous year questions:Take a look at questions asked in BPSC?prelims exam of last few years. Practising last 15 years’ questions for sections like general science, history, political science are still relevant.

    THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:

Take proper sleep:? Burning the midnight oil won’t help if you are trying to cover your syllabus in just two nights. Stick to what you have already read and revise. At night, the most important thing is to sleep. Take proper 6-8 hours sleep before the exam.

Keep all important documents: The most important thing is to carry your admit card, ID?proof and other documents that are asked to bring to the exam hall. Also, don’t forget your pens.
