MVJCE STUDENT WINS GOLD AT ALL INDIA STUDENTS DEGIN COMPETITION:

    10/30/2018 12:00:00 AM
    MVJCE STUDENT WINS GOLD:

Bangalore, October 27, 2018: Omkar Shriram Lawate, a final year student of MVJ College of Engineering (MVJCE) secured 1st position in the aerospace engineering discipline and was awarded a gold medal for his design at the All India Student Design Competition conducted recently by The National Design and Research Forum (NDRF) of The Institution of Engineers (India). The 49th All India student design competition focused on promoting design and research in various branches of engineering.

☛ NDRF annually organizes a national level design competition for engineering students across the country. The competition challenges students to come up with innovative designs and showcase their individual engineering skills and talents. In the mission to help students earn recognition, the competition also aims at promoting engineering design and research in India. The competition was open to all students studying in final/pre-final year leading to BE / B.Tech / ME / MTech /MS or equivalent courses in engineering or have passed section ‘A’ Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (IEI).

☛ A newer conceptual design was brought out by Omkar where he applied design tools using advanced software. This design helps in improving the aerodynamic performance at various stages of flight of transport aircraft and UAVs by encompassing adaptive slotted winglets using shape memory alloys based actuators. The conventional static winglet are currently being used for a particular mission point which lies between performance at low and high speeds. Improved winglet design is worked out with morphing capabilities so that performance can be obtained over wider range of flight conditions in contrast to the conventional winglet. The slotted winglets with morphing capabilities is the key feature of his design. The advantages of his design includes reduction of acoustic sound, reduction of winglet twisting apart from better performance over a wider flight envelope.

☛ Dr. Nagaraj Sitaram, Principal, MVJCE while congratulating Omkar on his recent achievement said “Among the several participants in this competition, Omkar made it through to get a first position which makes it very complementing considering his experience in aeronautics as a beginner. This landmark achievement not only highlights the handwork of the student but also the dedication of our faculty which has constantly worked towards promoting the all - round development of our students and has motivated them to showcase their talents at such national level competitions”.

YOGA MUST BE PART OF SCHOOL CURRICULUM, SAYS VICE PRESIDENT M VENKAIAH NAIDU:

    10/30/2018 12:00:00 AM
YOGA MUST BE PART OF SCHOOL CURRICULUM:

New Delhi: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday recommended that yoga be made a part of school curriculum as more and more people are suffering from ill health due to lifestyle diseases. Speaking after releasing a book, "Yoga and Mindfulness: The Basics" by yoga exponent Mansi Gulati (Konark Publishers), Naidu said that while life had become easier with modern gadgets, it had brought with it issues like sedentary lifestyle.

☛ People have to adopt a "meaningful proportion in our activities", Naidu said. The Vice President said the air conditioner while conditioning the surrounding air was also "conditioning the mind". "We can't see the sun or the light, we can't enjoy the nature," he said. People were going to doctors for Vitamin D deficiency or lack of exposure to sunlight. "Food includes sunlight also," he said to applause.

☛ The Vice President said earlier physical activities used to be part of daily routine. "Literally there is no activity now and the effect is that diseases are propping up," he said. He added that people were not in touch with nature and they were not exercising.

☛ "Yoga has acceptance across the world and it has nothing to do with religion," he said. Anyone with any religion can practice yoga. It would help the mind and body work better. "I personally feel that yoga should be made part of the school curriculum."

NEET 2019 REGISTRATION TO START ON NOVEMBER 1 AT nta.ac.in:

    10/29/2018 12:00:00 AM
NEET 2019 REGISTRATION TO START ON NOVEMBER 1:

☛ The registration process for the country’s largest medical entrance exam, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Exam (NEET), is scheduled to start on 1 November. The newly established exam conducting body, the National Testing Agency (NTA), will release the NEET 2019 application formwith the information brochure on the said day.

☛ While changes announced by NTA early in June with regard to the exam such as computer-based test held in multiple sessions were revoked, the status quo in terms of exam mode and number of sessions has been maintained with NEET 2019 remaining a single window, pen-paper based exam.

    NEET 2019 ELIGIBLE OR NOT:

☛ NEET eligibility has undergone a lot of controversies and therefore remains a topic of contemplation for students. The basic requirements needed to be fulfilled by the candidates can be only confirmed once the information brochure is released. However, prospective test-takers can check here the current regulations laid down by the Medical Council of India and the latest judgments of the Delhi High Court.

☛ Indian nationals, foreign nationals, National Residents of India (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) are eligible to apply for NEET, considering they fulfill the age and academic requirements. The much-talked-about upper age limit, which was reintroduced for NEET 2018, has been stayed and is likely to remain for the students applying for NEET 2019. This implies candidates should be between 17 and 25 years (30 years for reserved categories) of age to take the entrance exam.

☛ In terms of academic requirements, candidates should have biology, physics, chemistry and english in their qualifying examination. A minimum score of 50 percent marks (40 percent in case of SC/ST/OBC) in science subjects in aggregate is necessary while passing in all these subjects individually, including English, is also required.

CAT 2018: ONE MONTH TO EXAM, TIME EXPERT ANSWER QUESTIONS ON MONTH LONG PREP TIPS TO CRACK CAT:

    10/29/2018 12:00:00 AM
    CAT 2018:

☛ CAT 2018 would be conducted across the country on November 25, 2018. As many as 2 lakh candidates appear each year for the Common Admission Test, CAT for admission to top MBA institutes in the country – Indian Institutes of Management. With just one month left, Chief Knowledge Expert , T.I.M.E, Mr. Ankur Jain has shared the answers to some of the top questions candidates have.

HOW SHOULD AN ASPIRANT PREPARE HIS TIMETABLE FOR THE LAST MONTH?

☛ In last month, you can do mocks (AIMCATs and SAMCATs), analyse them and study and prepare as per the deficiencies revealed. You can also focus on revision of important concepts and formulae.

WHAT SHOULD BE THE IDEAL STRATEGY REGARDING THE MOCK TESTS IN THE LAST MONTH?

☛ Don’t do too many of them, like two every day. That is overkill. But don’t do too less of them, like one in 10 days. Focus on doing some, and more importantly doing analysis of them and then working based on the feedback received. Then, take another mock. Most aspirants can manage this in 2-3 days per cycle, so you can take 2-3 mocks per week. If you are very strong then maybe you can manage more and if you are exceptionally weak then may be only 1-2 in a week.

☛ Now that the CAT authorities have sent the admit cards, you know your time slot for the examination. Do as many mocks as possible at the time of your actual exam slot. This will sync your body clock and body cycle to perform at the peak on the exam day.

WHAT ARE THE IMPORTANT TOPICS FOR LAST MINUTE REVISION?

☛ There is nothing less or more important in CAT. CAT as a rule is a surprising paper with something or the other which is unexpected. Don’t focus on vocabulary building or starting new grammar rules but you can revise tricky questions of QA or common mistakes of Grammar.

HOW CAN THE STUDENTS INCREASE THEIR ACCURACY AND SPEED?

☛ Speed is a function of accuracy. Build accuracy first and then with repeated practice, you will gain speed on your own. Build of sense of urgency while doing the exam so that you don’t dwell unnecessarily on longer and time consuming questions.

HOW CAN THE STUDENTS STAY CALM, FOCUSED AND MOTIVATED AT THIS TIME?

☛ Focus on the alternatives. Thinking that CAT is the only thing in their life will create unnecessary pressure. Think of past successes and how one overcame hurdles.

HOW CAN THE STUDENTS SELECT THE IDEAL QUESTION IN THE TEST THAT CAN LEAD TO MAXIMUM ACCURACY?

☛ Maximum accuracy is not a desirable aim. In the CAT, due to time pressure and negative marking, doing questions with 100% or nearly 100% accuracy may lead to a drop in the score/percentile since you are sacrificing attempts. The ideal way to select is to look at all the questions and do the ones that are less time consuming. You can do the sections in two rounds. In the first round, do the easy questions and “bookmark for review” the moderate ones. In the second round do the “bookmarked for review” questions to do the moderate ones and drop the tough ones.

HOW MANY QUESTIONS SHOULD BE ATTEMPTED BY THE STUDENTS IN EACH SECTION SO THAT THE CAN SCORE 99+ PERCENTILE?

☛ One cannot answer this question since that depends on the difficulty level of the test. In a difficult test the attempts will fall and conversely in an easy test, the attempts will rise. You should instead, try to focus on doing as many as you can, in the given time.

ANY ADVISE FROM OUTSIDE THE DAILY GRIND?

☛ On the last day you should relax. Watch a movie! Go and enjoy. Take your mind off the exam. That actually helps do it better! Ankur Jain is the Chief Knowledge Expert for TIME - the leading institute providing coaching for CAT and other competitive examinations. The suggestions shared are of the expert.
